Holy Adam West!

Hey readers...Pat here. A while back I posted this watercolor of Batman/ Adam West. Well, today, I saw this video, and I'd thought I'd share it with my faithful four readers. Enjoy!;)

Not Scary, just Blah!

Didn't have a real reason to put up this sketch I did a while back, just feeling really blah! ( Came down with the flu, ache, coughing! Yeach!)

With all the stuff going round, it gets me a little scared to think what I'm in for this time.

I hate being sick!;(

While Toni is busy planning the annual meeting with the international vendors, I have been consoling my self with countless Buffy the Vampire episodes! (Seasons 3 and 4 to be exact!)

But I'm also a closet lover of classic "musicals"...One of my all-time favorites is Calamity Jane starring Doris Day, (in the title role), and Howard Keel as Wild Bill Hickok. Now that's how the West was sung; and here's a clip of my favorite Doris Day number from the movie!

Smiles for the Blah's!

Here's a couple of smiles for the blah's! It's the Warner Bros.'s
"Animaniac's"!

I post a lot of my pictures and sketches on this web site, but a lot of my "projects", never see the light of day. Toni can testify, there's hundreds of rejects that never get saved, and it took decades, to become as competent as I am! Meanwhile, I continue to draw, draw, draw, whenever I get a pen or pencil in my hand! (Especially on rainy days like today!)

Weekend Update!

Hi all, what a nice day. I already ran with the YMCA runners I coach! So I can kick back and relax. Toni and I will be going to the market soon. I'll pick up a few things for work. (Snacks, soda pop, etc...)

Everyone here in Michigan is doing OK! But it sure is hard, hearing stories from other runners who have been hit with layoffs, slowdowns, wage freezes, or worse! Sure hope things turn around quickly!

So...enjoy the weekend. I'm in the middle of another "Buffy" fest. (Watching season episodes-back to back!) Season Four on tap!

Moment to Shine!

Did I mention that I saw Christopher (my son), last Saturday. Toni and I went to Milwaukee for a visit, but we also, made a layover in Chicago to visit with Chris. He's doing fine. In fact; this a parental moment to brag on behalf of Christopher. Here is a part of a resent letter Chris received!

"Christopher, Congratulations! During the Fall 2008 semester you maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher, and the Student Government Association would like to recognize your hard work.We cordially invite you to the Student Government Association Academic Achievement Brunch on Friday, April 24th from 11am- 1pm in The Loft (4th floor of the 916 S. Wabash building). "

Yup! Chris has made the honor rolls once again, and I couldn't be prouder of him! ;)

Music I'm listening too; "Running Hard" by Renaissance!

When I need a lift!

Hey readers...
Pat here! Well, I'm back from the hospital, my scan and x-ray done. Nothing to report. Although sometimes I wonder if they'd really tell you if something was wrong?

I got home, feeling kinda melancholy! It's times like these, I think about my younger brother Matt. He is my hero when it comes to facing unpleasant things. I take my inspiration on how to deal with health issues from his example. He had a good attitude when it came to going through the ordeal of chemo therapy/ radiation treatments for his cancer. He got through it, so can I.

Cat Scan Today!

This morning, I have to go get a cat scan. It is my first since my kidney operation last September. Because I had a reaction to the contrast dye they normally inject you with; I have had to fast all night, and now drink 20 oz.'s of something called Ready Cat! (It looks as horrible as it sounds.) Mmmmm! can't wait for that-can you?

Anyway, I go for my scan at 9:00 a.m.; with blood work to follow on Friday! Wish me luck!

Friday Morning Coffee and D&D

As I was having my morning coffee, I thought to myself; "tomorrow night, I'm playing d&d!"

Let me explain, about 1984, (or thereabouts), My friends Bob Lyman, Doug Adams, Rose Badzinski, Toni and myself, began playing a game called Dungeons and Dragons. I know that all kinds of myths and rumor's about the game have sprung up. (All rubbish!)

Fast forward to 2009, now Bob's daughter Krista, her boyfriend Austin and occasionally others, join the ruckus, as the d&d adventures continue. We'll play for 3-4 hours, dine on exceptional fare, (thank you Rose), then chat about family, movies, old times-good times, etc...into the wee small hours of the morning! Ah!

Those Wacky Japanese TV Shows...

I am always looking for fun, silly, cute or reverent things on the Internet. So when a clip from some TV show from japan, shows up on YouTube, why of course, I have to sample it. Remember those water-bottle rockets they use to have, where you'd fill em' up with water, then attach the pump, and fill them up with as much air pressure you could squeeze into them?

Here's how the Japanese do it. Watch!!

WOW! You go girl!!

Hi girls and guys, I like these happy stories! I saw this on YouTube and it brought tears to my eyes. Talk about reaching out for one's dream. (Oh, and there's also the one about not judging a book by its cover, too!) Here is the http address. Sorry, you'll have to cut and paste it into your browser to get to the site.
But trust me it's worth it!

HAPPY EASTER!

A quick hello this fine Easter morning, before I'm off to church! I hope you all have a wonderful day! I just wanted to ask my regular readers, (all four of them), how come you don't comment any more? I was hoping to get feed back on the video link, (and to tell the truth), I was proud of myself for figuring out the Html address mumbo-jumbo to get the feed to play on my blog.

Did it work? Could you see and hear it? Thumbs up-or thumbs down on doing it in the future?

Let me know, OK?

Talk at ya' soon.....;)

Happy Weekend

Hi all! Just got up a little while ago. The new job is going well. Lots of things to learn, but its kind of fun to be back in the publishing game. I don't know why I love working on timely publications. I find it fascinating!

The crew I work with are new to me, but seem really like good people, and I'm getting along pretty good. Toni said the first night, she was a lost puppy, kept walking around the empty house looking for me. (Poor little kid!) But by Friday, it was back to normal. Toni working at the kitchen table on Kellogg matters, me at work at the newspaper.

Chris is home this weekend, visiting. So I'll get caught up with him, too. So Happy weekend!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer! (Oh Yeah!)

Once upon a time, Jennifer, a girl I worked with, and a friend of mine was talking about cool shows, when she asked me, "Do you watch Buffy"? Jennifer, looked so disappointed, when I said "No".

Fast-forward to 2009. Now the TV series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer had run its course. But, thanks to the miracle that is called DVD, you may still discover the awesomeness that is Buffy! Today I own every season, (along with Angel), but that's another story!

I won't bore my readers of why I love Buffy. I will say, I think it was a terrific show, with both wonderful cast and writing. And now, I am happy to write, I just heard Sarah Michelle Gellar, is going to do a Buffy Movie! I will be walking on clouds; the rest of the weekend.

Note to Jennifer...you were right!

Copy the COPY-CATS!!

The other day, I was reading Mark Evaniers web site, on how the Disney crew often traced their earlier works. I thought, "Nah', they wouldn't do that; would they?"

Turns out, oh yes they would! Here's proof!

I'm Waiting For STAR TREK To Open!

Hi to all. I am a big Star Trek fan. A BIG STAR TREK FAN. And I am anxiously awaiting the opening of the new movie; along with every other Star Trek geek!

I am hearing great reviews, and I don't want to know too much about the plot, but it sounds like the movie is going to be HOT this year! Here's a picture from the new movie. (Yes, there is a watercolor in the works!) I start my new job at the newspaper tonight, wish me luck. So...for today, "Live long, and prosper"!

Mickey Mouse Club

A BIG HEY to all the faithful readers! I don't know why, but on today of all days, I started thinking in my head the Mickey Mouse Club Theme Song. (And once it started...it kept going and going, and going!)

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Disney fan. The Mickey Mouse Club was a television series on the new ABC network, originally shown during the 1950s. The program first aired on television on October 3, 1955. The half-hour show ran five days a week, eventually airing 360 episodes. The last new show ran in September 1959. I probably watched half those episodes "live", when they were first broadcast in Milwaukee during the '50's!

See, I'm a BIG FAN!

But you don't want to hear the theme song over, and over, and over!

A New Job!

Wow a second post today! I have been offered a new position with the Kalamazoo Gazette Newspaper! I will be doing ad designs for the newspaper. I am happy for the new job. It is in my field of work, and I will be well paid, too!

It has caused me some grief, as I have to give short, (very short), notice to my beer sales position. I start the new job Wednesday. So now, I will have my weekly chats with Bob.

I hope this won't cause me too much grief, with D&D trips. I am supposed to work on Saturdays!

But its great to be a designer again! (YEAH!)

More "Mutts" Goodness...

Here's something from the "Mutts" comic strip. I love the antics of Earl the dog, and Mooch the cat! Here's Earl doing what he does best; showing affection for his human, Ozzie!
I love "Mutts"!

The Gypsy Robe

Hi to my loyal readers. I read an interesting article today about show biz, and more specifically, about Broadway opening night traditions. It turns out, that the show biz gang that works on the great white way, are a very superstitious lot. One of the most time-honored traditions, is the giving of the gypsy robe, on opening night to a senior performer, who has many, (often the most), Broadway show credits to his or her name.

The cast and crew gather about an hour or so before the curtain goes up, and the person is so named king or queen of the gypsies, and is presented their "coat of many colors", often incorporating many logos, items, etc...of previous successful shows. After donning the coat, and having the cast touch the robe for luck; the performer then goes around the theatre, knocking on each dressing room door, and theatre back door for luck.

There are tales of shows that didn't perform the ritual, to the dismay and ultimately the ire of performers and financial backers alike! I found the tale fascinating! No music playing right now...but I'm thinking about the music from "A Chorus Line".

Off To Work!

Hey there, just thought I'd post before I go off to work. I've been working weird hours, and lots of them lately....The good news is, more money. The bad news is...more work! (Funny how that works out!)

Anyway, I haven't been making the rounds, calling friends, calling family, or even catching up on my D&D buddies!!! So I hope all is well with all my friends and family. Toni, Chris and I are doing fine...and I'll catch you all up as soon as I get a chance. Here's a D&D picture I did in the meanwhile! (I swiped, this one from somewhere, but I added my own touches!)

April Fools!!!

Ha! I snuck up on my 4 readers by posting twice in one day! ("Didn't expect that one, did ja'?")

Anyway... I had a very nice quiet off day. Talked to my buddy Bob for almost 3 hours!

Did some laundry, and went to the store to get cleaning stuff for the weekly house cleaning Friday.

(You know, furniture polish, air fresheners, floor swipes, spray cleaner...cleaning stuff!)

Now I'm just waiting to start dinner when Toni gets home.

Then maybe I'll watch another episode of Sharpe's!

Ah, Bob Day!

Good morning to my four devoted readers. Yes! It is Bob Day! The boss has seen fit, to giving me a rare Wednesday of, so I can pick up on an old tradition! Once a week, since 1997, I have paid my faithful friend Bob a call.

Going back those years, it seems silly now, how we snickered and laughed about trivial things! But make no mistake; talking to Bob, is serious business, too! Over the years, I've gotten wonderful advise from Bob, who is a wise, and witty sage!

So today, is Bob Day! In honor of the day, I post another, LotR pictures, from my watercolor book. ~ Enjoy your Wednesday!

;)
