Back home in Battle Creek

Well that was scary.

Last Wednesday ,I received a very frantic call from my mom saying my dad had a stroke. He had been taken to St. Luke's Hospital to have emergency brain-surgery. I packed some things, and drove to Milwaukee to assist mom, and help her in anyway I could.

Thursday, my dad was awake, and to my surprise, he seemed pretty good, (aside from the nasty scar that gave testimony to the surgery he had just survived!)

By Friday, he was walking a little, eating, and seemed on the mend.  He seemed to get better each day there after. By Tuesday, the doctors said, he had progressed so fast, they couldn't justify keeping him. He still needs medication, and some follow up exams, but all things considered, I don't think you could hope for a better outcome.

It truly is a miracle, dad has pulled through! Now I'm home in Battle Creek. Happy and relieved!

The New Mower

Hi gang. Pat here, with a Battle Creek up-date. Last weekend, my old lawn mower died, (Again!) *Sigh! Same old stuff, brand new day! Toni and I decided that rather then go through the hassle again with the crummy yard tractor that has given us problems for years, we'd bite the bullet and get a new and improved lawn machine.

Welcome to today's latest and greatest. The John Deere Zero Turn Mower. It came yesterday, and Chris posed with it before he went in for work. It works great! Chris said, "I can't wait to cut the grass again. that was really fun!"

Highlights from the EAA!

Good day everybody. Pat here with a report from the Experimental Aircraft Association Convention. Last Monday I made a pilgrimage to Osh Kosh to attend the EAA Fly-in, with my best pal, Bob Lyman.

We had a great day seeing the famous war birds of yesteryear, and enjoyed talking with some very interesting people at the show.

We talked with photographer, Christian Kiefer who takes photographs of famous war planes. We bought his photo calendar, and had it signed by one of the models who posed with the war bird in WWII attire.

We had a swell visit with Karyn Taylor, an author who wrote a book about her father, Maj. Welton I. Taylor, a Tuskegee Airmen. She detail's his career in WWII, flying as a spotter pilot in the Pacific theatre. I bought the book!

Bob, and I had a great day looking at the great number of plane's. (I think Bob, is as big a nut about old planes as my brother, Scott!) Maybe next year we get the two, together?

Here are just a few of the planes we enjoyed!
