Space:1999 moving to 2099

Hey there. Pat here with a sci-fi entry today. Back in September, 1975, (two months after I got married), a TV show premiered called Space:1999. It was a sci-fi show that took place on a futuristic runaway moon in the year 1999.
With terrific special effects, (for 1975), and a large international cast. It was one of my favorites. Today, however; its looking pretty old. With some pretty funky music. (Oh, and by the way, its now 2010!)
Apparently that is all about to change. A recent website has been calling for an update to the classic series. With digitally enhanced special effects. Scene re-edits to quicken and tighten script and pace, the series would be moved forward to the year 2099. New music has been recorded, and now John Koenig (Martin Landau), and crew will once more tour the galaxy on a quest to seek out a new home.
Cool beans!

Toni's great (but then, you knew that!)

Hi faithful readers...Pat here with a little Toni update. We had a quiet weekend at home, watched "Raising Helen" starring Kate Hudson. Worked in the yard. Watched the Packers. And through it all, had a great weekend. Just being with Toni does that.
Toni's great...But then, you knew that already! Song I'm currently listening to; "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert.

Having a fine (geek) Summer!

Well, summer is winding down, but I can honestly say; "I'm having a swell geek summer!"

I've been to C2E2, a fine comic book convention in Chicago this spring with my son, Chris! And I've recently been to Gen Con in Indianapolis, the premier Dungeons and Dragons convention. Next stop, my buddy Bob and I, are going to Ann Arbor to see a special screening of our all-time favorite sci-fi film Metropolis!

Yes, I'm having a swell geek summer!

Saturday Night card game

Well, let me see? It was Saturday night, and Toni and I were entertaining a couple of our best friends with a BIG Poker game. Toni, and Wynne, we're really on a roll, winning hand after hand of Poker, Black Jack, Texas Hold-em'.

But fortunes soon reversed. Gene came out on-top, as the night's ultimate, big winner!

Fortunately, we played for pride. The chips were for keeping score!

The Guild

Hi. My long time readers, know I always promote video's that I have found on the Internet!
My latest obsession, "The Guild".
Created and starring Felicia Day, the Guild, is a funny game about nerdy gamers, trying to cope with everyday life. Its very funny, and super creative! Hence, the shameless plug here!
If you'd like to see more, or watch a bit; here is the website:

Gen Con 2010

Hi everybody. Well, I survived Gen Con 2010 Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana! Bob summed it up best. "It's like see your ol' girlfriend with that rich snooty kid." It seemed bigger, then it used to be in Wisconsin. It seemed cooler, but having said that... your still bitterly disappointed, that the show left Wisconsin.

Here are a couple of shots from the show and they don't do it justice. I had a great weekend, with Rose, Bob, Austin, Krista, Chris, and even Toni. (Who drove up Saturday on her own), just to be with us!

Is he in (or out), what time is it?

So the media are having a field day with the old game of "Is he in...or out?" Yes. I'm talking about Bret Favre! I think, ol' Bret is ready to play, hates pre-season , and when the season opener rolls round, he'll be putting on the purple and gold for another season. (That and 20 million makes it more likely!)

I root for Favre, but can't get behind the Vikings! :( Go Green Bay! Go Aaron Rodgers!)

Where have you been? (What have you done?)

I know its been a while since I've posted anything on a regular basis. "Sorry about that, chief!"
So, a lot of you might ask, what did you do, (between your computer blowing up? Your ATT modem going haywire?
Well, if you must know. BEHOLD!
Its a fantasy sky ship I built from scratch with balsa wood and paper! (Its another useless prop, built for my D&D group!)
Click on a picture for a closer look! My Dungeon and Dragon buddies are going to be seeing a lot of her on their next adventure! (Yes! You've been warned!)
