Star Wars on Blu-Ray!

Most of the long-time readers of this blog, know that I am a super-big kid when it comes to sci-fi movies. Case in point: Star Wars! I remember having to wait til June to see the original Star Wars film, because it hadn't opened yet in our area. (Back then, films opened regionally). All I could do to temper my enthusiasm was listen to the soundtrack on 20th Century Records, that had already been released. It was a strange, magical throw-back to traditional "classical" music. And had tantalizing pictures that hinted at what was to come!

Now, 20th Century Fox and George Lucas are releasing their mag nus opus mega Blu-ray disc set of the entire Star Wars saga. Its coming in September.

How grows the lawn...

Well, its been a weird summer of ups and downs regarding my lawn. At the beginning of the year. (Early April as I recall), I had my local lawn/tractor center take my lawn tractor in for a maintenance service. This included, sharpening the blade, repairing the deck supports and springs, and a general tune-up/ oil change.

Yeah...that didn't last long. The darn thing is driving funny, cutting grass worse and now, its hacking the crap outta' everything!

I had just fought the battle of diagnosing what was wrong with the trimmer, and getting that fixed, and now, WAM!I back to square one with the tractor.
Its so frustrating because its the end of summer, so no one has parts, and yet, you'll be cutting grass for another two-months! *sigh*

About the last post...

I thought about it, and decided to give you an added glimpse into the world of John Carter. Back in the 1940's, Bob Clampet, was a young animator/director on the Warner Studio lot! He was one of the best, who worked on Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck. In the 50's he created his own show Beany and Cecil. Well....

Here is a clip, where Bob Clampet, at some convention, showed a proposed test reel he had created for a John Carter cartoon series. It never was meant to be. Alas~ But at least we can appreciated Bob's hard work. Pretty cool!

Blast from my past!

When I was thirteen years old, my family had moved to Pine Avenue in Bay View. It was a pretty big adjustment, new friends, new school, new everything! My brother Scott and I shared a bedroom adjacent to the attic. It was there I found an old book, that became a treasure of untold wonder!

Until that book, I barely knew Edgar Rice Burroughs as the author of the old Tarzan books. Little did I dream, that he had also created a science fiction creation, John Carter of Mars. That day, that first day in the attic, I began to read "The Princess of Mars". It was such an amazing good yarn! I still treasure those glimpses of Mars! I am therefore looking forward to this little Disney gem coming out next year! Have a peek for yourself!

Randa's Fairwell Dinner!

Hi all...Pat here with a Randa tale. Many of my readers know that Toni has a colleague from Hong Kong/ Australia, who has become a very close friend. Every time she visits the USA, we have her stay at our home. For her recent farewell dinner, we all went to the Fire Keeper's Casino for dinner, and some gambling! Here are a couple of pictures from dinner, and our after dinner adventures. We also invited our friends Wynne and Gene; so we had double the fun! Take a look!
