I remember...

I know I've posted a bit on this before, but one of the influences of my youth, was an early sci-fi "puppet show" that ran on NBC in 1964 called Fireball XL5. The hero and heroine posted here are Steve Zodiac, and Venus.
This was an early Gerry Anderson production. He also made Supercar, Thunderbirds, Stingray, and later the live-action shows U.F.O. and Space:1999.
I watched them all at one time or another, but XL5 is still the one I remember best. (Maybe one of the influences to doing the "Action Toni" series?) Anyway, with Toni gone, I spent the morning watching episodes of XL5, and felt like reminiscing!

Toni's out traveling!

Toni is out on one of her junkets, going to Buffalo, NY, then onto Boston, MS before returning home Thursday. (Sigh*)

I always get worried when she travels, and more so, when the weather is nasty. Hopefully, this too will pass. Meanwhile; yes Rose, there is construction afoot.

Bad day, sad news

Hi everyone, Pat here with a little sad news today. This weekend, I received word that my cousin Jill had been having some problems, and when it was diagnosed, it seemed see had a condition similar to my own. Tumor on the kidney.

Today, I was told, that unlike my condition, hers is even more serious. She will need extensive surgery to remove a tumor on the outside of her liver, that has become very aggressive, and will need a vascular surgeon, in addition to the kidney specialist; to help repair the damage to her system. I have had flash-backs to my own ordeal, and have prayed very hard for her.

Say a prayer today for Jill, OK?

Sunday was Favre day!

Well Sunday was Brett Favre day here at the household, and it was a house divided! One of us was cheering for the "Vikings", and one of us was rootin' for the "Cowboys"! (I'll let you guess who was cheering for each team?)

Long story short--34 to 3, win goes to the Vikings!

Another Night of "Nothing"

Well hey out there to all of my readers. Pat here, with another night of nothing! What, you may ask, is that about? Well... About a month ago, the Corporation that owns the Kalamazoo Gazette, decided that they were going to move the entire operation to the Grand Rapids newspaper offices. (I'm sure they did it months earlier, but I digress.) Which meant, layoffs, and down sizing. Since I was hired by an outside agency, (which means cheap), I have been retained for the time being.

But with most of the operation already gone, I am now alone at night, without any work for hours at a time, and I do mostly busy work. Hence, this post. Another night of nothing!

But its a living! ;)

Music I'm currently listening too on my ipod; "Lazy Day" by Spanky & Our Gang! How weird is that?

So close!

Well, I had to wait at least twelve hours to decompress after the Packers loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The game had its moments. Good and bad. I think, the very bad start, had the Packers reeling, and the Cardinals did their best to take advantage. The players did rally, and they came back. It was thrilling to see the Packers tie the game, and take it into over-time.

It was heart breaking, to see them lose. Like all team sports, there's always next year. The teams I'm rootin' for now, are Dallas and the Colts. (And of course, I always root for the NFC team in the Super Bowl!)

The Packers were so close!

More on John Carter!

Yesterday, I started writing about John Carter of Mars...But I didn't fully describe the history about the franchise. Way back when, another film veteran proposed doing a Mars series. Bob Clampet of Warner Bros. cartoons, and Beanie and Cecil fame, worked on a concept to do a cartoon feature of the amazing civil war captain's adventures on Mars! Here's a peek of his efforts!

I had a thought...

I had a thought about the John Carter Warlord of Mars series. I think I've read somewhere that Disney has bought the rights to this property. Well...

Years ago, when I was a kid, I found a book, The Chessmen of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Now I was familiar with Tarzan, but I had never heard of John Carter of Mars! As I read the book, I fell in love with the story, and its characters.

Now after seeing Avatar; I am convinced they have the ability to bring the Mars series to life! My thought was this; "How strange that this property, that has been abandon for the last 60 years, will finally get its day on the big screen, just in time to make Disney a lot of money"!

Think of you (But Of Course!)

Are you my friend? Why of course you are! (That's why you read this blog!) My thoughts are with all my friends and family this day! Guess I was just feeling a bit melancholy! The cold and snow are driving me batty, and its only January 4. (Not a good sign of things to come!)

Toni's a bit under the weather, and Chris is having a time of it, getting things together for school. Not that I'm complaining; as much as explaining. I am hoping for better days ahead. Meanwhile...I'm thinking of you.

Happy 2010!

Happy New Year to all my family and friends. Toni, Chris and I had a quiet new year eve, celebration with a movie and a pizza. We saw the new Sherlock Holmes film with Robert Downey Jr., (very good, thank you), then had a couple of frozen pies, and finished off the night, with some TV viewing, watching the ball drop at midnight, yada, yada, yada!

It was fun. Happy New Year!
