Victory at Sea

Wow! Two posts in one morning, BONUS!

I've started watching the TV Series Victory at Sea. A WWII documentary first broadcast on NBC way back in 1952-1953. It was a TV project conceived by producer Henry Salomon who was a sailor in the second world war. NBC approved the project with a budget of $500,000. (A LOT of money back in 1953). Salomon's team combed through 60 million feet of Navy achieve film to edit the 61,000 ft. of film used for the 26 half-hour episodes.

The music is still enjoyable, although I have learned that the Richard Rodgers music was really a score by Robert Russell Bennett. Rodgers wrote 12 short one minute piano cues, that eventually became the recurrent themes heard through-out the series.

Its still one of the best documentaries made on WWII.

Good morning friendly readers. Did you see the Superbowl on Sunday? I know some folks don't really care too much for the game. Some people just tune-in for the Super hyped-up ad's that are created especially for the game. In case you missed them, here are all 61 ad's from the Superbowl, in just 2 minutes!

Super, huh?

I found this little gem today, and thought I'd share it with my faithful readers. Its a Superman animated cartoon, done by a Disney artist, as a project to entertain himself. I love these self-published films. Fun!

It's so snow right now!

Sorry gentle reader, its been a pretty snow, (slow), week around here. Sunday brings us to Super Bowl Sunday, so I expect things to pick up pretty quick! But except for watching the steady fall of the white fluff, there ain't a whole lot going on!

The good news is, the snow stopped! The bad news is...its still here! <*Sigh!> Guess I'd better go and shovel it!
